Supermodel Liya Kebede is about to become the latest celebrity/model to add "designer" to her resume. Kebede has announced that she will release a collection of children's clothes in the spring. Her new line will be called "Lemlem", which FWD reports "means “to bloom” in Amharic, a Semitic language from Kebede’s native Ethiopia."
Although she is just one of dozens of other celebrity designers lately, there is one thing that sets Kebede's clothing line apart from the others. All the children's clothes will be handmade in Ethiopia, which means the clothes will incorporate some elements from traditional Ethiopian clothing for a fresh look that (hopefully) won't be like everything else on the market already.
Liya Kebede is the face of Estee Lauder. She has also been noted for her charitable work through the World Health Organization (for which she is a goodwill ambassador) and for setting up the Liya Kebede Foundation to reduce maternal, newborn, and child mortality.
