The Coco Chanel TV film staring Shirley McLaine has been slammed by critics. The film has been described as lacking in structure, full of factual inaccuracies and having 'wooden' acting, reports VOGUE.

MacLaine will play the designer in her later years, as she set out to re-establish her reputation as a fashion trendsetter. Barbora Bobulova ("In Love and War") will play the younger Chanel, reports Variety Christian Duguay ("Human Trafficking," "Hitler: The Rise of Evil") is set to direct. Alchemy Television Group is behind the project, which has just begun principal photography. Two-part mini will run in 2008 on Lifetime. |

According to Vogue UK , Karl Lagerfeld was inspired by for Captain Arthur Edward "Boy" Capel, the English polo player who financed Coco Chanel's first shop. Capel's uniform blazers are said to have inspired Chanel to inject a squared-off, more masculine touch to her classic bouclé suiting. Lagerfeld also looked the Duke of Westminster, Hugh Richard Arthur Grosvenor, whose English sensibilities rubbed off on Coco Chanel's design aesthetic. |
