Does America Not Care about Victoria Beckham?

Is it true? I have read several articles and blogs lately that lead me to think that Americans are totally disinterested in Victoria Beckham. Not many people showed up to the launch of DVB at Saks, for starters.

Now, the Fug girls are writing for New York Magazine. Yes, they went from blogging about celebrity fashion to writing for New York Magazine (hear that, New York Times? I will be waiting to hear from you) and they have most recently written an interesting piece on Victoria Beckham. In the land of celebrities, she's almost refreshing, they claim, compared to constant headlines about trash like Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, Britney, and the like. Victoria Beckham has taken a different attention-getting strategy than most of those girls, and she's very interesting--but do Americans not care?

Victoria Beckham has Jumped the Bandwagon, Too

In what isn't even really news anymore, yet ANOTHER celebrity has jumped the celebrity-designer bandwagon. Victoria Beckham yesterday launched her DVB label in Manhattan at Saks Fifth Avenue, while crowds went wild.

The launch was followed by a celebratory dinner hosted by Saks CEO Steve Sodove. Many members of the press, including several influential fashion editors, who were surely mentally scrutinizing both Beckham and her designs, were present at the event.

"I had a wonderful day today. I know all of you want to eat – including myself," she said, as the dinner was being served, and then added: "I hate to ruin the rumors."
