A match made in hell: Puma by Alexander McQueenSubmitted by Stavros on Tue, 2007-06-12 03:04.
Can anybody think of a worst partnership than the Puma- McQueen one? I know..it's tough. Since it's beginning a few season ago, it hasn't been very productive. The lousy image McQueen sometimes portrays in the menswear market was worsened by such act, and some even questioned if he had any real talent. I remember that each season I fiercely tried to like any of the sneakers he presented. I desperately tried to find a "secret" appeal. I usually ended up liking at least a pair of his line, but this year it profoundly sucks. It seems to me that he is doing pretty well with his partnership with Samsonite and his additional footwear line was kind of left behind. For the Fall-Winter 2007 collection he leaned towards a Vans-type of aesthetic - something extremely ordinary and too overplayed. It's kind of ironic that he constantly messes up this line. I mean this is the only collection that is massively distributed, so isn't he supposed to tried harder to shine and reach the delightful glory? Unless, that this was his last desperate act to appeal the eye of the youthful consumer. If that was the case, he is fuc@#d - his footwear line is neither artsy nor sellable. |
