Pucci + Seven For All Mankind Joining Forces

Emilio Pucci, famous for clothes with bright colors and wild prints, is joining forces with Seven For All Mankind, everyone's favorite premium denim company, to create a new line of brightly colored jeans, reports Womens Wear Daily.

They will come in all sorts of bright colors (no prints, though, thankfully) and will sell for about $400 at Pucci stores. They are limited edition--only 2000 will be made, designed by Pucci creative director Matthew Williamson, so get yours while you can (if bright colored jeans are your thing).

Who Wears It Better?

Readers of this blog may by now have picked up on the tiny little fact that I LOVE Pucci. I love the bold, colorful, crazy designs even if some people think they're a little too much. So, I was surprised but thrilled to see the photo below of both singers Kylie Minogue and Mary J. Blige stepping out on different occasions in the exact same printed Pucci dress. Who wears it better? My vote lies with Mary, but it's a tough call...not just anyone can pull off a Pucci dress!

Do You Love Pucci?

If you're a die-hard loyal Pucci fan, here's something for you. The Santa Maria della Scala museum in Italy will be hosting an exhibit entitled the “Palio Collection,” a collection of clothes Emilio Pucci design in 1957 to celebrate the city’s renowned horse race.

TIt is curate by Alessandra Arezzi Boza and margherita Anselmi Zondadari, is oepn for viewing June 28-Sept 9, and features drawings, sketches, color charts, prints, and clothes of the collection. It included eveningwear, cocktail dresses, daywear, blouses, bathing suits, and terry cloth pieces. "Pucci presented his clothes at Palazzo Pitti’s Sala Bianca, with 17 models dressed in silk blouses and pants of different colors and patterns that represented the heraldic colors of the Contrade, Siena’s medieval city quarters," according to an article in WWD. the prints were all inspired by artifacts from the 15th century.

it's great to see so many fashion exhibits opening around the world. Too many people view fashion as a frivolity and not an art--it's nice to see designers getting the credit they deserve!

Elizabeth Hurley's Pucci Dress: yea or Nay?

Pictured here is Elizabeth Hurley, in a bold and festive Pucci gown that she wore to an event honoring the design house recently. What do you think? This dress is a tricky look that wouldn't work for just anyone, but I think Elizabeth Hurley pulls it off with just the right amount of class - but without looking like a multi-colored beach ball. On anyone shorter or stockier, the loud prints would have the potential to make one look huge. But on her tall, lanky frame, this dress can work, and is very representative of the bold colors and prints used in typical Pucci designs--perfect for the event she wore it to, which honored Pucci's 60th anniversary, but not suitable for most other occasions. I love it, and hats off to Elizabeth for making a risky, artsy dress work for her. What do you think?
