Tiffany & Co. Wins Counterfeiting LawsuitSubmitted by Nisha on Wed, 2007-08-08 06:46.Good news: Tiffany & Co has won their counterfeiting lawsuit. Basically, they won nearly $1 million in damages for trademark counterfeiting lawsuit; the defendants were sellers of the kind of fake Tiffany's merchandise you find in Asia and on street corners in NYC. "We are pleased to announce this judgment. Trademark counterfeiting severely damages brand owners and consumers alike. The way to stop it is to take aggressive action against the counterfeiters and make them pay, criminally as well as civilly," said Michael Kowalski, Tiffany's chairman and chief executive officer in WWD. Tiffany reps also said the award they received, $956,793.15, had already been paid in full by the defendant, Yaniv Shamir. |

Meet jewelry designer Philip CrangiSubmitted by Stavros on Wed, 2007-06-13 00:23."It's really hard to put pearls on a man," he says to Refinery29; and most men would certainly agree with him. Also, most would not dare to focus a great share of their business in selling a hard-to-wear item. But, fortunately, Philip Crangi ain't like those men. Why? Because he has the talent and the creativity to embellish any given part of the human body with the most spectacular designs - and, above all, he oozes self-confidence. From his early days, he was vastly influenced and supported by both of his parents who were professors of "Art History". The profound appreciation for the arts was a natural thing for him, so he did not think twice when he opted to attend Rhode Island's School of Design. There, he learned how to craft in a marvelous manner. His knowledge deeply widened and after earning his degree in gold-smithing and furniture restoration, he apprenticed under the legendary jewelry craftsman Ted Muehling*. For his latest line, as evidenced by his great talent, he was able to create polished items that do not expose any given style uniformity. In some cases, there is no need to place a gem over the hypnotic creations - your finger becomes it. And that's about one of his conceptual premises: avoiding to evoke a single type of style and to elaborate items fully-loaded with gems, but with no artistic value what so ever. Another way to describe his pieces, is by a mere comparative analysis to Dior's jewelry line. Philip Crangi's pieces are the flashy New Yorker meets pirate version of Dior's line. quotes paraphrased from Refinery29 |
Tiffany's mens-only new storeSubmitted by Stavros on Tue, 2007-06-05 04:35.Jewelry giant, Tiffany, is set to open their first mens-only boutique in Tokyo. Although they assure that this event does not anticipate any future plans they might have, it certainly exposes the great importance the mens market is getting in eastern Asia. Tiffany, will present a vast range of the dainty goods they are known for. From special lines to the traditional pieces, everything is set to be available for purchase. Without a doubt, the new lines will be aimed exclusively to the male consumer . Such items will be crafted with the refined perspective of the contemporary sophisticated man. A booming economy, would only lead the high-end market to skies and beyond - nevertheless, renamed exclusive labels should follow this premise with relevant care and precaution, since the "flooding" of any market would only provoke a seizure of itself. |
