GAP Wardrobes The Simpsons for their Fashion Debut

Even animated, Gap’s fall must-have – the Shirtdress - is the ultimate in classic style. In the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar, three Gap Shirtdresses grace the cartoon figures of Linda Evangelista, Marge Simpson, and her sisters, Patty and Selma. Gap’s French Cuff Shirtdress and Ruffle Front Shirtdress come to life on Marge and company's stroll down the Champs d'Elysées.

 

MODELS, AD CAMPAIGNS, AND A BOND GIRL

It’s been reported that Salvatore Ferragamo has enlisted two famous Supers – Claudia Schiffer and Stephanie Seymour – to star in his fall ad campaign. Both Schiffer and Seymour rose to fame during the Supermodel era of the early 90s and have experienced career resurgences in recent years. Schiffer recently walked for the Chanel 2008 cruise collection and stars in the accompanying ad campaign.

The super trend carries through to Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian duo have nabbed Brazilian Gisele Bunchden, arguably the only Super of the last 10 years, to be the face of the new The One fragrance, which will hit US shelves sometime this summer. The choice of Gisele comes as no surprise seeing as she opened the Fall 2007 show, clad in a metallic gold dress and black studded cummerbund.The fragrance is the first from the company since signing a deal with Proctor & Gamble Prestige Products.

Over at Christian Dior, French actress and Bond girl, Eva Green, has been tapped to be the face of a new Christian Dior fragrance, slated for a fall release. The actress, best known for her recent portrayal of the dark Vesper Lynd in “Casino Royale” was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a Japanese-inspired creation from the spring 2007 Haute Couture collection.

At retail, Gap Inc., after enrolling Claire Danes and Patrick Wilson to show of their dancing skills in the “Boyfriend Trousers” campaign, have reverted back to models. Sources say Caroline Trentini has been booked for the next Gap campaign along with Chanel Iman and Coco Rocha. The campaign will be shot by Mikael Jansson and styled by Marie Amelie Suave. It’s the second time this year Gap has opted for models - you may recall the model-heavy ‘Khakis with Attitude” campaign that featured Jessica Stam, Carmen Kass, and Liya Kebede, amongst others.

 

GAP INC. HIRES SEXY PATRICK ROBINSON

Gap Inc. building on its renewed cool factor, today announced that Patrick Robinson will join the company as executive vice president of design for Gap Adult and gapbody.

Mr. Robinson, 40, will oversee all elements of design for Gap women’s and men’s apparel, accessories and intimates lines in North America. He will report to Marka Hansen, president of Gap North America, and Gary Muto, president, Gap Adult and gapbody, and begin in his new role on May 29.

“Patrick brings broad experience – from high-end fashion to mass market retail – demonstrating his versatility to interpret and create fresh, clean designs true to the Gap brand aesthetic,” said Ms. Hansen. “We believe his skills and experience with some of the most respected apparel labels in the world will be great assets to Gap brand.”

Mr. Robinson joins Gap from Paco Rabanne in Paris, where he has been artistic director since 2005. Most recently, he designed a limited-edition collection for Target’s GO International initiative. Prior to his tenure at Paco Rabanne, Mr. Robinson held senior design and leadership roles at Perry Ellis and Anne Klein. Mr. Robinson served as the design director at Le Collezioni White Label by Giorgio Armani from 1990 to 1994.

Mr. Robinson is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design, was chosen one of Vogue magazine’s 100 rising stars in 1996 and has been a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America since 1994.
