Last week I wrote about Oak’s fall-winter debut collection. A menswear line featuring garments for regular guys, but with a twist. I mentioned how remarkably well produced was Oak’s look book and I also refer to the use of black and white as exquisite. Today, I write about their second collection, which isn’t out yet.
This time their attempt to design wearable goes far away of being something nice but approachable, and ends up being a disastrous cheap looking line. Their debut as a menswear label was magnificent, but after one season of being in the business they did awfully bad - ironic isn’t it? Their spring-summer 08 collection features soft colors and “lousy” pieces. Their great jackets lost their charm, and have become unstructured items.
The skinny pants are once again present, and those are really nice. But they obviously don’t define the collection, so they can’t do much to change the entire aesthetic. The usage of creamy blue is definitively a plus, but then again it’s not that exposed - it seems like someone did some buy decisions. Finally, the shoes they chose to be paired up with every outfit are absolutely terrible. They look like fish boats…big chunky white fish boats.
