In a March 16 post, Cathy Horyn writes "American Vogue has made this its bread and butter, influencing what the industry thinks. Vogue is very successful and, at the same time, it’s old and out-of-touch. The magazine has always done a credible job covering the arts and politics (thanks to Julia Reed), but even allowing for the fact that wealth is historically part of its turf, the magazine doesn’t give you a new experience consonant with the changes in American life. It gives you old business: daughters with lucky DNA in New York or L.A. "

Horyn's comment board was flooded with fashionistas agreeing.

One reader writes "I was just telling my husband that for the first time ever - since I started reading Vogue in high school - (51 now) - that I wasn’t renewing my subscription to Vogue . . . I can page through the magazine in about 4 minutes and not remember a thing I read. I love fashion. I’m an avid seamstress and knitter and fashion magazine junkie - and I just don’t get Vogue anymore."

In February, fashion gossips on the popular fashion forum thefashionspot.com slammed American Vogue as being out of touch, after the Magazine put Jennifer Hudson on the cover.

One Vogue lover wrote "US Vogue is such a joke right now. It's like everyone is giving it prestige when it no longer deserves it. The one thing I always loved about Vogue was that it was sophisticated and actually fashionable. Now anyone can make the cover."

Another wrote"This cover is terrible. FIRE ANNA!"

According to one Vogue worker spilling to our pals at Page Six, "They are expanding the Vogue Web site and getting more involved with the Internet. But Anna hates the word 'blog' so much, she refuses to call anything on her site a blog and has charged her staff with coming up with a new word that isn't as garish-sounding. She wants it ASAP - in time for launch."

A source close to Wintour said, "Anna just doesn't want people to refer to stories as blogs, because they're not. It's an improper use of the word."

A rep said, "Anna has nothing against blogs."

In other news, Anna Wintour has revealed her soft spot for cuvry gals. The skinny Vogue beauty lauded Jennifer Hudson for her healthy outlook on weight inside the Vogue March issue. Wintour says Hudson’s “happiness in her own skin is something we can draw strength from.”
