Stella McCartney can think of no other reason why animal hides are used in so many fashion lines.

She said: "I find it astounding, because fashion is supposed to be about change - I mean, we're supposed to be about cutting edge! I can only think they don't care as much as people in other industries. So, yes, I think people in fashion are pretty heartless. Why on earth would they use fur and leather otherwise?

Stella McCartney has opened her first Paris flagship store in one of the cobblestone galleries that surround the Jardins du Palais Royal.

Stella McCartney has signed an agreement with Luxottica Group SpA for production and distribution of Stella McCartney sunglasses worldwide. The agreement begins in January 2009, and the first collection under the agreement will launch in summer of that year, WWD reports. The company said McCartney “will personally follow each step of the creative process, together with the Luxottica design and product team.”

Stella McCartney has given birth to baby number three, a boy, with husband Alasdhair Willis. Beckett Robert Lee Willis was born on Tuesday morning in London and a spokesperson for McCartney has confirmed that mother and son are doing well. McCartney is going ahead with her fall show in Paris, which is scheduled for Feb. 28, WWD reports. McCartney and her husband, Alasdhair Willis, have two elder children, Miller Alasdhair James Willis, who was born in February 2005, and Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis, who was born in December 2006, Vogue reports
