For Fall 2008, Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz presented incredibly chic day clothes, intricately detailed evening wear and some pretty fierce shoes, putting together his best collection for the house to date.
The passion and intensity that Elbaz puts into his collections does not go unnoticed, he is a man who truly loves women. his clothes are wearable, very expensive, but wearable. He causes us to look at fashion in new ways, injecting his collections with the most innovative of fabrics and cuts. Last season alone, he single handedly convinced the world that polyester belonged on the red carpet and not in your dress up box.
For fall 2008, Elbaz presented a collection inspired by a single thread, this could be seen in the blouses and dresses made entirely of a single, black, grosgrain ribbon winding around the body . These delicate clothes were presented alongside some ridiculously over sized, industrial looking jewelry. This jewelry consisted of fist sized crystals over black leather gloves, Bolts and screws woven together by ribbons, pearls alongside large silver chains and random chunks of gold held together by wires.
The ideas that Elbaz presents are amongst the most admired in the industry, easily imitated yet impossible to copy. Alber Elbaz is genius and his legacy will live on long after he does. This collection was the stuff of legends, and if you have $10 000 to spare, you may become a part of the story.
