Gucci has chosen UK singer/chanteuse and regular fashion fiend, Roisin Murphy to represent them in this year’s fashion Rocks ceremony that is taking place in London this week. Now considering that Roisin was representing the divine Vivienne Westwood two years ago. You can perhaps understand that I am a little surprised by the selection. Believe me when I say that I do not question the decision making of Gucci creative director, Frida Giannini lightly. She who has taken the helm post Tom Ford has brought about a cohesive and defined image for Gucci. Which just reads: Fabulous. Fabulous. Fabulous. Every single collection of every single season she brings it time and time again. Frida brings the glamour, the sexy, the rock & roll and the glitz without effort and without it seeming contrived. Roisin’s wardrobe is funky, quirky and a little bit of crazy. She tends to go for a lot of obscure British designer pieces on one hand but on the other she is seen wearing couture Viktor & Rolf, Gareth Pugh and of course Vivienne Westwood . The style of aforementioned designers does not bring about the obvious connection to the sparkle of Gucci. Here lies the possible genius of the decision of this not so obvious pairing. Frida said in an interview on UK television that Roisin’s talent is inspiring and magnificent. So, the reason for Frida choosing her I think is a personal one as I think she is basically a fan. Plus, Roisin is a great clotheshorse. Whatever Frida will put her in for the show she will rock superbly. I just never saw this one coming and I for one cannot wait to see the results.

Thats a great thing, ive
