The actor Adrien Brody is a remarkable character. He is unconventionally handsome. He has a somewhat dreary monotone speaking voice that points to the fact he takes himself a little too seriously. The average movie watcher would be hard pressed to name a ‘blockbuster’ movie that he has been in. Barring The Pianist, for which he won an Oscar for best actor 2003 and King Kong. He hardly has the profile of a Clooney or a Pitt and yet still I am fascinated. It is his soulful hazel eyes, his angular drawn face and his prominent nose that makes Adrien such a delight to watch. He is an American but wears a suit as a European. He wears it with elegance, class and with grace. It does not matter the designer he decides to wear or the event, his slim frame allows him to carry the outfit spectacularly. Unsurprisingly Brody was chosen to front Ermenegildo Zegna’s Spring/Summer 2003 advertising campaign and he stayed as muse and spokesmodel for a few years after that. Anna Zegna, one of the directors said of Adrien that he ‘represents the values of passionate determination and inner elegance that we here at Zegna embody. For this, we have chosen to work with him in our advertising campaigns. Adrien’s sincerity and respect for those around him make him the Exclusive face of Zegna”. The use of Adrien was both a coup and inspirational thinking on the part of Zegna and of course good for Adrien as he such a great clotheshorse. The elegance in which we speak of is coupled interestingly with a love and devotion for hard core Hip Hop music. Even now he still DJ’s and mixes in his spare time away from making movies. Well, what else is a dude from Brooklyn supposed to love?
