Roisin Murphy, a muse, a mannequin, a clotheshorse and an icon that barely anybody knows. Her new promo from her new album is called ‘Let me know’, an electro-disco feel good record that is made for your IPod. The video is a welcome vision of fashion perfection. Her video director gave her this remit: Ziggy Stardust just popping out to his local greasy spoon cafe. Which is traditionally an English institution where working class, mostly males go and get cheap eats of a fried full English breakfast. In the video she is wearing an outfit and gloves by Martin Margiela, a Gareth Pugh cape and Philip Treacy hat. All this complete with glitterball, disco lights and a lovely cup of tea. Roisin has often reffered to her look as ‘off the wall couture’. As a result she is pretty much too far off the radar of what the mainstream deign is cool and wearable. But when you see her busting her old school moves complete with her super hero Gareth Pugh cape, swishing as she moves. You can bet she looks good on the dance floor.
