Katherine Moennig is an actress. She is a good one. She is a very interesting dresser or rather the character Shane McCutcheon that she plays on the Showtime Lesbian drama 'The L word’ is an interesting dresser. Intense, boyish, edgy and pure rock and roll. I think she is Hedi Slimane’s muse its just that he doesn’t know it yet. Oh yes, she is Gwyneth Paltrow’s cousin. Please don’t hold that against her. For if we are to assume that Gwyneth took the bland, blonde and predictable genes, so then we are to assume that Katherine took the androgynous, edgy and sexy genes. Google the lovely Katherine and you will find plenty of fan sites and blogs whose readers are completely poetic and gushing about the powers of Ms Moenning. She is something like a phenomenon in the tightest of tight skinny jeans in the land of lesbians. The mainstream of course has not cottoned on to this lady heartthrob just yet. Well, how many sexually ambiguous 'dykeons' do you know that hold positions in People magazine’s 50 most beautiful lists? Just not gonna happen. She is a heartbreaker that is strictly for the ladies. The blur that lies between who her character is and who Katherine is, is very apparent and yet insignificant. Her fans long for her to be the mysterious, seducer and cool operator that she is on the TV show. She dresses in a variety of high-end designer brands such as Dior Homme and J Lindeberg. So, I guess it benefits the Moennig P.R machine that the people think she is just like that. The fact is, who cares anyway? She is hot. Even shock jock, DJ Howard Stern (how random) had a good-natured argument on his radio show with his missus when he confronted her live on air about her girl crush on Katherine. Fashion has only but slightly fallen in love with her as W magazine featured her photo spread in their art issue last year and Paper magazine has featured an interview with her. Raf Simons, Prada, Comme Des Garcons, your all crying out for a new face of 2008. She could be the poster girl/boy for every pale, sexy, edgy boy/girl the whole world over.
