Dear Victoria Beckham means ever so well when she is wearing the latest fashion creations. Be it Giles Deacon, Christopher Kane or Burberry. Mrs Beckham endeavours to sell to an adoring public that she is a true fashion icon. The noted designer Mr Kane put it out there in an interview recently that he didn’t lend Posh Spice one of his dresses when she asked because he doesn’t like her. He went onto say she’s ‘just not the kind of woman I think about when I’m designing my collection’ (painful). No matter what she wears she is met with adverse muttering from the higher echelons of fashion as well as having to deal with the chattering classes of the tabloid press mocking her desperate attempts to be’ fashionable’. There lies the problem with our lady Posh. The woman is so desperate to be worshipped for her talent of dressing up that she will go to some amazing lengths to get there. Be it releasing fashion books (See ‘That Extra Half an Inch’), his and her perfume range (with Soccer superstar hubby David) and fashion line with Samantha Thavasa in Japan (the Beckhams are huge there). The woman is nothing if not ambitious. The rumour that she offered her first born child to get a cameo in fabulous TV hit Ugly Betty is unfounded and unsubstantiated. Any discerning fashionista will always know that only a pretender that try’s to ‘work it’ will never actually ‘work it’. When was the last time you saw Kate Moss try to be ‘edgy’? Or try to be ‘sexy’. The Moss has ‘it’ and knows it and that’s why we love her. If I sound harsh I truly don’t mean to be, because though she is mocked from the UK to China. Posh also equals big business. Dolce Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Marc Jacobs have all courted her at some point by either giving her clothes, photo ops and inviting her to shows. It’s just that when she is standing along side that very pretty husband of hers, pouting and posturing as if her life and her Fendi bag depended on it. It feels a little sad and a little empty. Posh needs to relax and most importantly find her fashion groove and I know just the person who can help her find it. Step forward fashion guru Betty Suarez. Well it’s worth a try.
