As the environmentalist movements grow bigger and stronger, it’s just impossible for the fashion industry not to become involved. The London Fashion College has recently launched a “green” campaign named is green the new black?, which saw a week long event involve special guests and activities designed to unravel the complex issues fashion faces today as well as creating some consciousness among people. But believe it or not that’s not it.
The London Fashion College, pursuing their dream of a “greener” U.K, has now opened the Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF), which is scheduled to open in April 2008. The aim is to promote sustainable practices and bring together sector experts to encourage debate. Officially the institution will act as a one-stop shop for sustainability within the fashion sector across the entire supply chain.
Dr Frances Corner, head of LCF, told Vogue: “Environmental and ethical concerns should be high on everyone’s agenda, as fundamental considerations for any forward thinking fashion organization.” Dr Corner continues. “We must fight for change to ensure not just better lives for people currently in the industry, but also to safeguard future generations. The creation of the CSF underlines our commitment to this sector.", mpdclick reports.
