Marc Jacobs’ collections have always been highly approachable. Meaning that each and every one of them portrayed a very relaxed young aesthetic that no man should ever fear to wear. His designs are always stylish, yet he chooses to play it simple and avoids any complicated outfits or any avant-garde stuff.
His Fall-Winter 2007 line - currently available - is more of the same, not in a bad way. Really comfortable outfits, easy to wear items, and above stylish looks. He astutely played with a minimal color palette full of different tones of gray, some beige and some blue. But that wasn’t about it since Marc selected some items and made those in a heavily candid blueish turquoise, therefore giving some electric vibe to the whole line. It as if the bullet collided against a pale wall if you know what I mean. It created certain movement that was awesomely good. Nevertheless, I believe that the same effect could have been accomplished with other colors such a “chillon” yellow or a profound “eclectic” blue, therefore avoiding using the blueish turquoise which I despise.
The collection was full of geometrical patterns - or in other words full of squared pieces. I loved it. It kind of reminds me to the Fall 06 Jil Sander menswear collections, the only visible difference is that back then a more slimmer silhouette was portrayed. Apart from that the line still rocked. I loved so much that everything was so subtle and soft, I don’t know I just did.
If I had to chose one outfit, I would choose the one on which the model is wearing the puffy nylon jacket with the furred hood. I usually COMPLETELY despise these jackets, but this one seems so warm - maybe that's because I’m freezing as I write this. In addition, the gray cardigan the model is wearing underneath as well as the gray winter pant, are splendid...Voilà
