Fashion designers are mostly awarded at the earlier stages of their career or at the very top when they have conquered the market and imposed their persona. So what happens with the talented designers which are no longer newcomers nor staples in the industry? Does somebody ever give them an award? The answer is yes, but there is only one ceremony that fits that criteria: The Fashion Forward awards organized by the British Fashion Council.
A couple of days ago the 2007 edition winners were announced at a party hosted by sponsors Westfield London and the British Fashion Council Tuesday night. Jens Laugesen, Richard Nicoll, and Sinha-Stanic designers Aleksandar Stanic and Fiona Sinha had the delightful pleasure of winning therefore receiving significant financial assistance and business-mentoring services to help raise their international presence as they present their collections on the catwalk at this September’s London Fashion Week. Other personalities included at the event were hip designer Henry Holland from the House of Holland and Giles Deacon who was deejaying all night long.
All four winners were pretty excited, Fashion Week Daily reports as they contently say how happy they were with the awards received. My personal favorite of those four is with no doubt Jens Laugsen(shown above). He is a Danish designer whose Fall collection featured elegantly-proportioned dresses as well as voluminous skirts. Other events organized by the British Fashion Council include the London Fashion Week, the annual British Fashion Awards, The Colleges Council and a Business Development programs which aims to help new designers.
