That's right, designer Peter Som will be speaking at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC, next Wednesday. Topics of discussion include the design process, where he gets his inspiration from, and how the arts and culture influence his work. “It’s such an honor to be asked to speak at the Corcoran,” said Som. “My art history college days come flooding back; I’ll have to remember what my art history professors did to keep things entertaining. Maybe I’ll bring a laser pointer!”
According to an article in fashionweekdaily, Som’s fall collection was inspired by John Singer Sargent paintings, pictures of orchids, and his current spring, the film My Fair Lady. Som will use a powerpoint to include visual aids in his presentation, and will follow up with a question and answer session.
Past speakers at the Corcoran have included André Leon Talley and Robin Givhan.
