The best way to characterize the Christian Dior Resort 2008 collection is: over-the-top. To start, the show featured 65 looks - far more than most usual Resort collections. Bejeweled brocade cloaks, bright blue and green in everything, cats-eye sunglasses, elaborate costume jewelry, and '60s hair could be found in every look. The collection was colorful, vibrant, and full of fun, while still retaining an aura of retro sophistication. Animal prints, oversized hats, and colorful pantsuits also rounded out this collection. This is a line definitely not for the faint of heart (or of style). If you're a conservative dresser, it may not work for you. But if you're into vibrant ethnic prints, boldness, bright colors, exotic jewelry, and shimmery fabrics, this is for you. Given the fact that such things like shimmery fabric and cheetah prints can often go horribly wrong, it is a testament to the house of Dior that they can design such looks with class and sophistication and not an ounce of tackiness. And if you're feeling really bold, take a cue from Dior and wear a headpiece like the ones seen on many of the models in this show!
