In a press conference yesterday morning at the Sala Marc'Aurelio, Valentino announced his plans to celebrate Valentino's 45th anniversary. Plans include a three-day extravaganza on July 6-8 in Rome, since Valentino is one of the most prominent representatives of Italian couture. “I am truly grateful to Rome, to Mayor Walter Veltroni, and to the Minister for Arts and Culture Francesco Rutelli for hosting and welcoming us here for the celebration of our 45 years of activity,” the designer said. “And I thank them for placing some of the city’s, and the world’s, greatest treasures and most beautiful places at our disposal. Celebrating such an important achievement in the only city in which I genuinely feel at home makes me very happy. Here in Rome I opened my first atelier, here in Rome were my first successes, and here I work, and have always worked, with my collaborators. For many years I have had the honor of being ‘Rome’s Ambassador’ in the world, a title of which I am particularly proud and that I am really pleased to be able to hold once again on such a special occasion for me.”

On July 6, an exhibit entitled Valentino a Roma: 45 Years of Style will debut, staged in the Ara Pacis Museum, and will feature over 300 garments and rare archive material. The exhibit will run until October 28th.

On July 7, Valentino will host a showing of his F/W coutoure collection, for 1000 guests in Rome. It will be followed by a spectacular dinner and gala ball at the Deerk Park of Villa Borghese.

On July 8, Valentino will launch his new fragrance, Rock 'n Rose Couture.
Finally, a book dedicated to the life, work, and art of Valentino will be presented to the public and numerous social events will be planned around the book's debut.

Overall, the city of Rome is expecting thousands to visit to take part in the events!
