Meet jewelry designer Philip Crangi

"It's really hard to put pearls on a man," he says to Refinery29; and most men would certainly agree with him. Also, most would not dare to focus a great share of their business in selling a hard-to-wear item. But, fortunately, Philip Crangi ain't like those men. Why? Because he has the talent and the creativity to embellish any given part of the human body with the most spectacular designs - and, above all, he oozes self-confidence.

From his early days, he was vastly influenced and supported by both of his parents who were professors of "Art History". The profound appreciation for the arts was a natural thing for him, so he did not think twice when he opted to attend Rhode Island's School of Design. There, he learned how to craft in a marvelous manner. His knowledge deeply widened and after earning his degree in gold-smithing and furniture restoration, he apprenticed under the legendary jewelry craftsman Ted Muehling*.

For his latest line, as evidenced by his great talent, he was able to create polished items that do not expose any given style uniformity. In some cases, there is no need to place a gem over the hypnotic creations - your finger becomes it. And that's about one of his conceptual premises: avoiding to evoke a single type of style and to elaborate items fully-loaded with gems, but with no artistic value what so ever. Another way to describe his pieces, is by a mere comparative analysis to Dior's jewelry line. Philip Crangi's pieces are the flashy New Yorker meets pirate version of Dior's line.
