The label which carries the name of the man who rocked the 80s and 90s, Helmut Lang, might be opening a new store in the slightly chic New York district: The Meatpacking district.
Although no official press release has been made yet, sources tell Fashion Week Daily, that Helmut's relatively new owner, Andrew Rose, has been telling friends and other socialites how grand his desire to acquire the now empty space - once occupied by The Double Seven - on 418 West 14th St, New York. If such a magnificent event is finally accomplished, the Meatpacking district store would become the first Helmut Lang store to open since Theory Holdings Co. Ltd. purchased the label from the Prada group in March 2006.
Nowadays, Helmut Lang is like a glorious old memory that won't fade away; but Theory is doing everything at their disposal to place Helmut Lang right where it belongs. Their first proper move was to name, Habitual founders, Michael and Nicole Colovos as design directors which will expose a very different facet than the style the "genuine" Helmut portrayed. Setting their New York store at that spot would be a great move, since it'd be located relatively near from their headquarters, and definitively the second thing to do.
