Italo Zuccheli, the man who really should have won the CFDA award for menswear designer of the year, has challenged the "weirdos" of high-end fashion by presenting Calvin's men tights. It was about time someone had the nerves to include something similar to those on their runways shows.
Dolce & Gabbana had implemented a sportsy football like tights that very same season, but it was anything, but close, to the concept Italo had on his mind; This item isn't just a male tight, it's the representation of the perfect balance between masculinity and femininity. It's a garment that was historically included in the womens wear catwalks, and now it's presents no trace of female influence.
Such event puts in evidence, the relatively new trends of picking diverse traditional womens wear items and "transforming" them into a must have male item. For example, Alexander McQueen did something like that when he present the Novak mens purse; it quickly became a key ingredient for state of the art outfits .
I sincerely wonder what Italo thought while sketching those; I mean did he think something like" Oh gosh, this druggy Slimane is getting all this credit for his skinny aesthetics, but what about me? I'm freaking Italo Zuccheli, I must do something - and then - Do you want skinny? I'll show you what fuc@#ng skinny is.
I'm down for these tights, although I would not wander through the streets of anywhere wearing them, I applaud the idea of Italo and I hope that he continues to expose garments of the same sort - believe I'm a boy who loves to wear his Cheap Monday real skinny, and trust me when I say that there is nothing better than wearing them with an oversized t-shirt or sweatshirt.
