Patrik Ervell is one of New York's most prominent young designers. At the age of 28, he has already presented several collections at the New York fashion week and, as evidenced by the results of his previous collection, he will enjoy a booming future.
The Fall-Winter 2007 line was chaotic - but not in the artsy connotation. The design path Patrik opted to follow, was not the proper one. It was dull and obnoxious, since he located himself in the style boundaries of mainstream fashion; and that it's definitively what I was expecting from him. With Spring line he received tons of ovations, and many complimented the fact that his garments were super wearable. It seems to me, that Mr. Ervell took that vision too seriously and decided to craft his future line based on that Vogue - wrong choice
But in spite of elaborating a disastrous line for this upcoming season - not that is hideous or similar, but the main concepts that attracted spectators in the first place vanished -, the collection that mostly everyone awarded was amusing. The fact that he had included the golden nylon windbreakers were definitively a style plus. He presented himself as an innovator, as someone who could do something else rather than a trench coat or a sportsy jacket (including those by Marc Jacobs the previous season). In addition, the cuts he exposed on the main line pants was superb. He had managed to find the cut between Thom Browne's short pants and Bailey's "degrade" - brilliant.
I support Mr. Ervell, so I dare to present the outfits on which his creativity shined (Spring 07').
