Michael Bastian is a style savior - A man once in charge of the menswear creative department at Bergdorf Goodman , and whose life is devoted to menswear.

While America was swirling and spinning around European trends, Michael Bastian decided to compose a menswear line that would expose the traditional essence the fashion market was lacking of. With this idea on his mind, Michael gave birth to an epoch of re-appearance of the idealized American sportswear. Although he wasn't the only one who portrayed the idea of somehow returning to his roots - Thom Browne did something similar as well, and Adam Kimmel designed an artsy New York version - he was the only one who deeply used the pastel palette, sustained the traditional preppy cuts, and included only what would be used by the stylish average joe - he did not think outside the box, but the results were astonishing.

A refined and defined version of American sportswear is what Bastian has conceived. It's the conceptual version of a profound symbiosis of American fashion eras. Such a guiding principle will only strengthen America in the quest for fashion leadership - an objective way too surreal and impossible to reach.

Michael Bastian is what American sportswear was needing the most.
