[0]After years of silence, 1960s style icon Arnold Scaasi has decided to make his triumphant return to the ready-to-wear business this year, announcing his decision on The Martha Stewart Show this morning.

On the show, Scaasi showed off some of his new designs, reminisced about his past experiences dressing celebrities such as Barbara Streisand and Jackie Kennedy, and showed viewers how to whip up some of their own creations with the help of a sewing machine. Though he did not reveal which manufacturer would be producing his new line, Scaasi did say he expects to unveil his new collections in September.

The Martha Stewart Show is rapidly becoming more fashionable, featuring guest spots from designers such as Ralph Rucci, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Cynthia Rowley, and just last week, Tom Ford and Donna Karan both made cameo appearances. Furthermore, Stewart plans to continue bringing designers on her show and to the masses, saying "A lot of people never get invited to serious fashion shows. They might get invited to one at their local department store, but that's it. They don't know how much work goes into a gown and what they are paying for. People react very well."

Picture: Don't worry, that's not one of Scaasi's upcoming designs - it's the translucent pantsuit he designed for Barbary Streisand to wear to the 1969 Oscars.
