For Fall-Winter 2007 . 2008 designer Marc Jacobs looked to the 20s for a grown up, sophisticated and gimmick free Marc Jacobs Collection.

Marc Jacobs opened his runway show '80' minutes late like a Broadway production with curtains opening to reveal all 56 of his models on stage (something Valentino did last fall). The color, fabric , silhouette and feel of the Collection all seemed to pay "homage" to Yves Saint Laurent.

The Marc Jacobs Show is considered one of the pivotal collections for taking fashion in a new direction, Marc Jacobs sees long, lean lines as the next direction reports Hello.

The look, which Marc defines as 'grown up', explores a chic, elegant silhouette, accessorized with short or wide brims hats and gloves.

"I wanted something narrower," said the designer, describing the show's new silhouette reports Style.com.

Jacobs showed printed satin and matte jersey shirtdresses to the mid-calf, and belted tunics over slim cropped pants and knee-length skirts. Duchesse satin minidresses were cut trim and A-line with a fringe of pleats at the hem reports Style.com

Eveningwear was either tailored tuxedos, or dropped-waist or draped dresses; a teal strapless velvet gown with an oversized bow was his finale piece.

"He's one of the most talented designers in the world right now," said British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman of Jacobs. "He knows what people want to wear before they do."
