His bespoke pieces inspired by nature and construction - use traditional fabrics like felt alongside latex, plastic and metallic leather to dramatic effect. "First I draw a sketch when I am inspired by something, and then I source materials," the designer tells Vogue UK. "The process of blocking and shaping the hat is actually pretty fast, but decorating the piece with trims can take up to two weeks." Chambers was nominated in the Scottish Fashion Awards 2008 (Accessory Designer of the Year) and featured in The List magazine’s Style Issue as one of ‘the hottest young designers in the country’, alongside Christopher Kane and Deryck Walker. In late 2007 he designed a hat for Moloko singer and fashion icon Roisin Murphy, which she wore on her recent European tour. William Chambers asserts the piece for Roisin Murphy was career highlight : "She is just such an icon, her style is incredible."
