Therefore I believe that we should talk more about the great labels they have to offer. The only problem is that the only two nice brands that Australia is currently offering to the world are designed and conceived by the same man: Mic Eaton. The first one is Material Boy, the label which made him famous; and the other one is Another Boy, his second and less known brand. I have already written about Material Boy last month so by just searching a bit on Frillr you’ll find everything you should know about it. Therefore I will focus my entry on Eaton’s more personal label, Another Boy. It features the same eccentricity as Material Boy, but this time a slight shift towards a more “urban” look is made and less avant-garde pieces are presented. Eaton’s wacky creative mind surprises again, changing the surfer look one more time. I believe that this time he combined his urban pieces with his beach wear items, therefore creating his ideal line. Regarding the more ready-to-wear items, I considerably like the kinda oversized hoodie featuring diverse types of patterns and prints, and no color what so ever. On the other hand, I think that the surf shorts are an amazing futuristic version of the generic California board shorts. I'm completely dazzled by the fact that Eaton decided to use such a pale skinny, un-muscular, model to show-off his new work. And that’s no it, since the haircut he chose for his skinny young kid is so heroin chic - which is by no means related to the sun, beach nor fun activities. I guess, there is a bit of Hedi Slimane in everyone of us.

But his pieces do not always exude the Margiela style when worn separately. And that’s not exactly bad. Therefore I thought it would be good to write about one exclusive item of his latest menswear collection, and for such task I’ve chosen the green pants. Over the last couple of seasons, we have seen colorful pants - specially in the women selection. And green has been one of the most used colors, but most of the times these colorful pants were jeans. I cannot recall seeing a candid colorful pant like the ones I’m talking about that wasn’t made of denim. On his new collection, Martin Margiela includes a extremely nice pair of green cotton pants which seem perfectly appropriate for his style. You would think that they would serve as a complementary item, but it’s the other way around. It’s what you wear when using it, that complements the green pants. Instead of being just a nice looking item, they are the nucleus of an outfit. The other great thing of these pants is that they are very easy to pull off. Meaning that you can look different and original without feeling nervous or wearing something that actually does not fit you. I strongly believe that these pants should be an essential item in any men’s wardrobe. They will boost your self-confidence, they will make you look good, and you will be wearing Margiela.

Instead of looking back, Neiman Marcus’ executives decided that it would be delightfully interesting to present an exhibition of looks and original sketches titled “Future Fashion” in which contributors will be asked to present their take on the question of where design will go next, be it in the near future or 600 years from now. The exhibition will be part of a month-long launch starting in Dallas at the downtown flagship this October. And truly important designers will be helping Neiman and presenting their styles such as Vera Wang, Stefano Pilati for YSL, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, and Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci, who created a crocheted dress comprised of yards and yards of shimmering yarn. I believe that the question asked is highly profound and hard to rapidly respond. The possible outcomes of this exhibition are many and diverse. I would love to be able to imagine how Stefeno Pilati’s work will look like, but unfortunately I can’t. I strongly think that in spite of being just a goofy garment lacking of real importance, Pilati’s design will certainly give a clue to those wondering how his future women’s wear lines will look like.

[img_assist|nid=4943|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=640|height=640] Helping others is good, right? And everybody should do it. No matter if you are a middle class boring person or a high style celebrity, everybody should help others from time to time - or at least in theory. Therefore we always see A-list stars and fashion socialites giving away massive sums of money to diverse foundations or hosting chic evening galas to raise money, who apart from “helping” others they get the “love” of the people. But I believe that sometimes is better when artists do something productive and nice looking that can be sold for a good price, and then donate what they have earned from that item. Luckily, there is one designer who is currently doing that very same thing; his name is Sir Paul Smith. Sir Paul Smith, known for his floral patterns and preppy English aesthetic, has decided to help out some of the kids out there by teaming up with Wedgwood and launching a limited edition mug to raise money for the NSPCC Parkside Service, Notting Hill, London - What could be more useful than a coffee mug? The design was conceived by the British-born designer, who astutely managed to impose his iconic flowers onto the delightful morning item, in collaboration with his favorite florists “Wild at Heart” The cheerful mug will be first presented at a star-studded party in Notting Hill on September 10. It will retail from an approximate value of $50 with all profits going to the NSPCC. The china mug is limited to a production of 1250, so if you are interested and you want to help a bit hurry up before it flies away.

As Miranda Priestly does in the acclaimed novel "The Devil Wear Prada", everybody goes to Milan and Paris and completely skips the London shows. They event organizers as well as the local designers constantly struggle to make it better and to raise the quality of the shows presented, but so far the event has remained the same. Ahead is the London Fashion Week schedule for the Spring-Summer 08 season.
